ImcoSys Adds 8″ Android eReader, 7″ Tablet to Its Catalog

imcoG6TWLHere's an interesting bit of ereader market trivia. ImcoSys, a Swiss company which first came to our attention in late 2013 with the novel imcoV6L Android ereader, has expanded its catalog.

It's just come to my attention that ImcoSys has been adding new gadget listings to its website over the past 18 months. In addition to an OEM version of that nifty Wexler flexible screen ereader, ImcoSys is also now listing a couple 7" Android tablets, a half-dozen different 6" ereaders, and a new 8" ereader called the imcoG8Lpro.

That last device has actually been listed on the site for at least 6 months, but is new to me. It's probably is not available yet, but it caught my eye because the specs mention that it comes with the same 8" screen found on the Pocketbook Inkpad and the Onyx Boox i86ML.

I'm still waiting to hear back from ImcoSys and from the manufacturer with more details, but I can tell you that the imcoG8Lpro runs Android 4.4  on an unknown CPU with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot.

The 8" E-ink screen sports a frontlight and IR touchscreen,  and has a screen resolution of 1,600 x 1,200. The specs also mention Bluetooth, Wifi, a headphone jack, and broad ebook, office format, and audio format support.

The listing  leaves out some of the more important details, including availability, price, and manufacturer, although it does mention that the imcoG8Lpro is only available through B2B channels.

I can also add that the imcoG8Lpro was probably designed by Gajah, a Singapore-based OEM. The image of imcoG8Lpro, as well as other devices on the website, bear a strong resemblance to Gajah's other designs.

Edit: Nope. I was wrong. Gajah says it's not their work. I'll keep looking.

Please note that I'm saying that the design looks like Gajah's work; it's not clear at this time whether the device actually exists as more than a photoshopped image and a list of specs.

If it does exist, I'll try to get one. I would warn, though, you that Gajah is best known for budget ereader hardware, so I would not expect an awesome device.
